Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

High school male student HONDA Asimo gets his mock exam results from his very pleased teacher, Ikeuchi-sensei. When she hears that Asimo wants to design Gundam units, she’s not so pleased. He doesn’t care as he’s happy with his life. But the gyaru in his class, Himari, starts pestering him to help her study. When she sits with her legs spread, she teases Asimo for looking. His negative reaction to this lets her know she can trust him to help her.

She likes his name since Asimo was a Japanese robot. Asimo agrees to help her. However, he wants her to tell him why she didn’t laugh at his name when they first met. She recounts there was a boy from her childhood whom she liked. She teased him (Nasa) about his name and his reaction made her regret it. But her family moved and she hasn’t seen him since.

Himari sees that Asimo ranked second in the exams. Elsewhere, Nasa celebrates getting the results of the same exams he took in secret.

Thoughts/Review:

Ugh. Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 226 gives us the equivalent of Athena from Hayate the Combat Butler. Unfortunately, Himari isn’t set up like Athena was. Himari was a throw away character in the first chapter to show how Nasa was teased. However, Hata-sensei wanted to have a similar “inspired” story in Tonikaku Kawaii, or so it seems to me.

That aside, now we get another teenage cutie who has taken a shine of sorts to a nerd (Asimo). But she has a history with Nasa that you just know is going to come into play. Further, Asimo is going to have a rivalry with Nasa ’cause clearly, Nasa will be the first ranked person for the mock exams. Ugh. I’m not looking forward to some love triangles between Nasa, Asimo, and Himari. Not that I think Nasa will be tempted, but Tsukasa might get jealous.

I might have more enthusiasm if Himari had been repeatedly mentioned prior to her formal introduction, as happened with Athena in Hayate. As it is, she just seems to be a way for Hata-sensei to do another take on the influence story.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, I’m not really a fan of where things are going as of Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 226. But we’ll see where things go.
